This banana plant is ideal for creating an exotic atmosphere in your Dutch garden, because the trunk can tolerate cold down to -7°C.
With its roots in the open ground it can even survive at temperatures of -15°C, provided you wrap it well.

The Musa basjoo grows quickly and can reach a height of four metres in the Netherlands, with leaves of no less than two metres long. In a warm summer, a lotus flower can even develop on which small bananas can grow. Although these bananas are usually too small to eat, they still provide a real tropical feeling in your backyard.

Looking for a hardy banana plant? Then the Musa basjoo is the perfect choice! Make sure you protect it well in the winter, for example by wrapping the trunk with chicken wire, hay and a fleece. This way you can also enjoy this beautiful plant in the colder months. Don't forget to protect the trunk well, so that it can grow well again in the spring!

Please note: the Musa basjoo is only winter-hardy in the open ground. If you have it in a pot, it must overwinter frost-free. Choose the Musa basjoo and create a real tropical paradise in your garden!
